3. TCP/IP Setting Manual

In this section, you are assumed to have correctly identified the IP address for the Ulearn System Server. Therefore, you must produce a manual on how to configure the IP address on the server. You can use any operating system to demonstrate this task. The explanation should be supported with the screenshot and appropriate explanation.

Here is the demonstration of these steps to configure the IP address on the server using Windows 10.

Steps:

1. Type in Control Panel at the search bar and click Open to open it.

2. After opening the Control Panel, click on Network and Internet.

3. When Network and Internet is opened, click on the Network and Sharing Center menu.

4. After opening the Network and Sharing Center, the list of internet connection will appear. In this demonstration, I will be using the Wi-Fi connection using a hotspot from my phone. Therefore, go to connections and click on Wi-Fi(Khalisasuhaina’s iPhone).

5. A pop-up box called Wi-Fi Status will appear. Then, click on the Properties button.

6. The Wi-Fi properties pop-up box will appear. In this demonstration, we click on Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) as we want to configure an IP address.

7. Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) Properties pop-up box will appear. This is where the IP address is configured. Usually, we will use the DHCP server and the IP address will be obtained automatically.

8. To configure the IP address, we must click on Use the following IP address. Next, we need to type in the IP address for Ulearn System Server that is obtained from Subnetting Calculation. The IP address is 172.16.80.4.

9. The subnet mask will be filled in automatically based on the IP address class. In this example, the IP address is class B so the subnet mask would be 255.255.0.0.

10. The default gateway acts as an intermediary between the local network and world wide web. The host address would be the same with the IP address but have a different number in the 4th octet and that number will be 1. Therefore, the default gateway is 172.16.80.1.

11. For the preferred DNS server, we use the same address as the default gateway which is 172.16.80.1. For the Alternate DNS server, we will use Google DNS server which is 8.8.8.8. After completing all the necessary information, click validate settings upon exit then click the OK button.

12. Next, in the Wi-Fi Properties pop-up box click the OK button.

13. Then, a Windows Network Diagnostic pop-up box will appear to check if there is any problem with the new configuration of the IP address. If there is no problem, you can click the Close button.

14. Finally, the Internet Connection can be tested. If the internet can be connected, it means that the IP configuration was a success!
